Directed by Don Dohler, U.S.A. After robbing a video store, a gang of criminals head out into the countryside, where they invade the secluded home of the Parker family. Unfortunately, the Parkers turn out to have their own criminal tendencies and it’s left to the last-surviving gang member, psychotic Vietnam vet Rizzo, to fight back… Just in case this plot sounds interesting, it needs to be noted that this is a Don Dohler movie, so we’re talking here about something that’s rough, very rough, around the edges. Still, decent gore, lots of killings, and it doesn’t outstay its welcome. 3/5.

AIMILIA THE PSYCHOPATH (1974)

Directed by Pavlos Parashakis, Greece. Aimilia is an upright member of the community who spends her time teaching neighbourhood kids how to play the piano. At night, however, she dresses up to the nines, wanders the streets, and lures men back to her apartment in order to stab them to death. Meanwhile, in the background, an absurdly convoluted crime sub-plot burbles away incoherently, involving men loaded with facial hair. Once you’ve got your fill of the seventies paraphernalia (terrible wallpaper, greasy skin, arbitrary music), this bland exploitationer has little to recommend it: it’s an extremely dull offering, with little to no sleaze or hysteria. 1/5.
