Directed by Piero Vivarelli, Italy/Venezuela. This fits nicely into the branch of Italian exploitation cinema which, through the lens of sex, turns black people into the exoticised “other.” Examples include Osvaldo Civirani’s VOODOO SEXY (1975), Cesare Canevari’s THE NUDE PRINCESS (1976), and various offerings by Joe D’Amato, including several “Black Emanuelle” flicks. Here, pulchritudinous Nadia Cassini stars as a wife who travels to the Caribbean, takes part in some voodoo-style dancing, becomes dreamy and distant, and then (gasp!) has sex with a black man at the end. That’s it, really. There’s no sense of peril in any way whatsoever. A laborious oddity. 2/5.
